To my ever dearest friends,

As you can see, the pandemic has stripped me of inspiration and I have produced little or nothing in these last many months - better to say: two years.

One theme was very special to me - you know - the one in which I paid tribute to my Portuguese ancestors.

Still imbued with that gratitude, I concluded that this year's Christmas production could not be other than "Christmas in Portugal", which I liked a lot - I'll say in advance. I hope you like it too.

Dear friends,

 

Now that I've discovered how nice it is to fall in love with Portugal, I couldn't be content to pay homage only to Lisbon.

How beautiful the city of Porto is !!! How I loved to format it! And how happy it made me!

I don't know if the Porto people revere fado as much as Lisboners, but so much beauty of this city - for me - deserves a very emotional fado, as the city of Porto sounds to me.

Hoping that they will please what enchanted me - I leave them the way to reach my new Portugal: the city of Porto.

To my dear grandma,

What a pity that you left before I learned to understand the passion you had for your birthplace - Lisbon!

It is true that you were 91, but forgive me for listening to those who knew nothing about so much that you understood how to love your homeland; your sisters and nephews, also Lisboners; your children and, especially, two of your 7 grandchildren, luckily for me, one was myself - the first - the other, my little brother.

I still remember the smacks of your repeated and exaggerated kisses on both of us; yes, because you were never able to disguise your predilection for these two sons of your only son, whom you loved so much too.

He, the youngest of your grandchildren, is gone too - you know - and too soon. Would you have met?

Grandma Delmira, receive this tribute so late, but the one I was so delighted to elaborate, that I was so moved by singing with the heart each one of the fados that I decided to choose and that, since I was a little girl, I learned what they said by listening to you singing them.

Coimbra.

Yes, Coimbra.

Although a granddaughter of a Lisboan grandmother and having one of my dearest virtual friends living and loving the city of Porto, I chose Coimbra.

It was so because in my heart Portugal is only one, and for having always admired the traditions of the University of Coimbra, I could not resist the temptation to format that city.

To research the immeasurable treasure that its Library is gave me a kind of devotion by so much beauty, art and culture it shelters.

I hope you enjoy "my" Coimbra.
